The Co current-Strippers and Troughs are widely used in the cooling area in the wire rod rolling mill in steel plants.The cooling area is including the cooling water box before finishing rolling (Pre-NTM water box) and after finishing rolling (cooling water box). Pre NTM water box normally consist of co-current strippers, cooling nozzle, nozzle extension, counter current water strippers and counter current air strippers. The quantities of strippers are not fixed in the water box by different designs. Co-current water strippers are installed at the entry of water box and counter current air strippers at its exit. The co-current water strippers help reduce the moving resistance of the wire rod. The counter current air strippers can destroy the surface steam film and remove the oxide on the wire rod surface, which improves the cooling efficiency. In addition, air strippers are installed in the intermediate section of the water boxed to increase the cooling efficiency.
The troughs are without water cooling. The wire rod runs on them between Pre-finishing Rolling Water Box and Finishing Rolling Mill. The toughs are also used after finishing rolling mill and between the cooling water boxed. The setting of troughs can help the wire rod to disperse the heat from core and improve the performance of wire rod.
