The primary function of this system is to continuously and uniformly transport and compress wood chips from an atmospheric pressure environment into a high-pressure or pre-steaming vessel, while simultaneously forming a dense "plug" to prevent steam or chemical leakage from the system.

 

2. System Classification

 

Plug Screw Feeder: Responsible for transporting and compressing wood chips, using its geometric structure (such as the conical section design) to compress chips into a dense plug, which serves as a seal.

Plug Screw Throat / Wearing Liner: Works in conjunction with the feeding screw and is typically made of high-strength, wear-resistant materials to withstand high pressure and abrasive wear, ensuring long-term system operation.

 

3. Workflow

 

The wood chip feeding system process follows these key steps:

 

Material Feeding: Wood chips are fed into the feeder inlet by transport equipment.

Compression and Sealing: The rotating feeding screw pushes the wood chips into a conical tube; under mechanical force, the material is dewatered and compressed, forming a solid plug at the end of the feeder capable of withstanding pressure differentials.

Pressure Isolation: The dense plug effectively isolates the atmospheric feeding zone from the high-pressure process zone, ensuring process stability and preventing steam backflow.

Material Discharge: Wood chips are continuously fed into downstream pre-steaming or cooking vessels.
