I.Common roll materials.

 

1.Cast Iron.

Cast iron is one of the most widely used roll materials. Common cast iron includes gray cast iron, ductile iron, and white cast iron. Cast iron roll are widely used in small and medium-sized rolling plants due to their low manufacturing cost, easy processing and treatment, and good wear resistance.

 

2.Bimetallic composite rolling mill roll.

The bimetallic composite roll is composed of two different metals. The outer layer usually uses alloy steel with good wear resistance, while the inner layer uses inexpensive carbon steel. The main advantage of this material is that it is composed of different materials, which can balance surface hardness and internal toughness, making the rolling mill less prone to fracture and fatigue after long-term use.

 

3.Wrapped rubber roll.

Wrapped rubber roll is a layer of rubber with good wear resistance and hardness that is covered on the surface of the roll to increase wear resistance and slip resistance. This material is particularly suitable for high-speed rolling of lightweight metals.

 

4.High speed steel and hard alloy.

These materials are commonly used to produce high-precision, high-speed, and high-strength roll. They have extremely high hardness and wear resistance, and rolling under extreme conditions can ensure yield and quality.

II.Advantages and disadvantages of different materials. 

 

1.Cast Iron.

Advantages: Low manufacturing cost, easy processing, and good wear resistance.

Disadvantages: Poor fatigue performance and poor heat resistance.

 

2.Bimetallic composite rolling mill roll.

Advantages: It can balance surface hardness and internal toughness, and is less prone to fatigue and fracture after long-term use.

Disadvantage: High manufacturing cost.

 

3.Wrapped rubber roll.
